In the night...
Gently you slip off into the dream. A quiet forest greats you. Creatures of natures bounty slowly pick their way through the underbrush in search offood. A slight breeze stirs rocking branches and shaking leaves. You feel an overwhelming sense of peace spread with the wind. As the feeling of peace spreads, the normally skittish woodland creatures inch closer and closer to you. All traces of fear and anxiety absent from their eyes. Step by step they close the gap. You find yourself surrounded by all manner of beasts. Ranging from usually apprehensive deer, to aggressive wolves. None of them showing anything but curiosity. The slight breeze picks up. Some leaves begin to fall, being shaken loose bit it's still slight, but constant power. A few tiny chipmunks scrabble up your clothes and take purchase on your shoulder. They chitter to one another back and forth. A young bear cub comes forth and nuzzles your hand. The breeze gathers more momentum, becoming a more powerful wind. Small debris moved by the wind seems to begin moving around the forest. None of this seems to bother the wildlife, as the sense of peace pervades the air. The remaining creatures encircle you. All seeking a closeness. A ring of animals ranging from prey to predator. Yet none seeming to notice the proximity of their opposites. The strong wind gathers strength becoming a gale. Entire tree's are stripped of their leaves. Branches and limbs rain from the sky as tortured wood succumbs to natures power. The feeling of peace begins to ebb as the eyes of the animals take on a malicious tint. Teeth seem longer and sharper, as do claws. The playful chittering of the chipmunks abruptly stops as you feel your ear ripped apart. Like a pack of wolves the animals fall upon you. Rending flesh viciously. The last thing you remember before you awaken is a voice. Terrible in nature. A voice that inspires terror at your very core of being. "I am the true Nightmare!" With those words you wake, and you see everyone around you sitting up, covered in blood with the same haunted look of fear in their eyes.
